What can I expect when I hire you to hang Christmas lights at my home?

We have designed our Christmas light hanging process to be as simple and convenient as possible for our customers. Simply follow the steps below and you will be enjoying bright and beautiful Christmas lights and decorations at your home or office before you know it.

  1. Call to request an estimate…We can do most estimates over the phone! However, we are always glad to come and meet you to discuss any project that you may have in mind.
  2. Order our services…If you decide you would like us to hang Christmas lights at your home or office, the next step is to schedule a date of installation. On the day of installation, our crew of Christmas light installers will arrive on time and with all the necessary equipment to create a dazzling display of holiday lights.
  3. Enjoy your holiday lights throughout the season…We are extremely careful as we hang Christmas lights to ensure they will burn brightly throughout the season. However, if you do experience a problem, just give us a call. We will send our service crew out to repair your lights as soon as possible.
  4. Schedule a removal date…If you have a preferred date for take-down, you may let us know that date when you book your installation, and we will do our best to accommodate you. Otherwise, we will take down your lights as soon as possible after the holidays are over. We generally have all lights removed by the end of January.
How much do you charge for Christmas light hanging?

The total cost of Christmas light installation will depend on the size of your home and the number of lights you want to have installed. When we agree on a price via your estimate request, your price will not change.

Is there a standard lead time for Christmas light installation with your company?
As the Christmas season approaches, our calendar fills up quickly. However, no matter how busy we are, we try to be at your home no more than 5 days after you order our Christmas light rental service. Your best bet for timely and efficient service is to schedule an appointment early. Customers who place a deposit by September 1st are guaranteed to lock in an early installation date of their choice. Call now to reserve your appointment.
Do you offer a warranty on your services?
Every part of our Christmas light installation is covered under our warranty. Should any problems occur during the season, give us a call. Our service team will be out as soon as possible to correct the problem at no additional charge.
Do you provide the holiday lights and decorations or do you install lights I already own?
In order to provide you the best and most convenient service, we have you rent our commercial-grade strands of lights as a part of your installation package. These lights are higher quality and guaranteed to give you a brighter, more consistent display. We provide everything needed for the installation and store the lights for you after take-down to ensure they remain in excellent condition. As an added bonus and something else to consider, if you would like to use different lights or colors the next season, you have the flexibility to change your selections from the previous year without the cost burden of having to purchase new lights on your own.
When can I expect lights to be removed?
We begin take-down services promptly at the end of the holiday season and typically have all lights removed by the end of January. If you want your lights up past a certain date please let us know when we install your lights. We take-down by neighborhood beginning December 27th.
What is the difference between lumens and watts?

When it comes to lighting, it’s really all about lumens. But what are lumens, exactly? Lumens is the way to find out how bright a lighted bulb or an LED lighting fixture is. Lumens equals brightness. And watts does not. Not that watts are bad, but they measure energy use, not light output. With new, energy-efficient LED technology, we can no longer rely upon wattage to indicate how bright a bulb is. What types of lights work best in outdoor environments?
We recommend using a low voltage (12v) system and LEDs. Lower wattage fixtures are softer and produce less of a glare. In addition, a lower watt system helps you to better sculpt your lighting. Keeping light pollution to a minimum is always the goal.  Using path lights and uplights with protective guards, what we call shrouds or ‘eyebrows’ in the lighting business will keep light from shining away and into the open sky. Top-quality transformers are also a key component to consider in a lighting system as the better quality transformers will provide you with increased performance, longevity and maximum light output from the lamp.
What parts of the yard should I highlight with outdoor lighting? Should there be a central focus?
You don’t necessarily need to have a central focus per se. You might decide to highlight several different areas like groupings of trees, architectural elements or pathways, both natural and concrete.  An additional consideration we impress upon all of our clients is to consider what makes sense from a security standpoint. Lighting for security should also be a major factor considered during the initial design phase.
Are your fixtures and transformers UL and/or ETL listed?
While it is still the industry norm to use appropriately safety-tested products, we’ve seen a rapid rise in the use of non-safety certified products of late, mostly coming from China. By skipping this testing the manufacturers can sell their products for less and undercut legitimate, properly tested products. If these products cause an electrical fire or other malfunction, your insurance policy would most likely not cover the resulting damage.
Do you use a multi-tap, circuit breaker or fuse protected transformer in your installations?
All quality Halogen (and most LED) installations require a multi-tap transformer. Without a multi-tap transformer (ranging from 12v-15v and up to 22v for certain long wire run installations) you cannot adequately control for voltage drop, which causes uneven light output and improper lamp voltage which results in a reduced lifespan. This happens most often (but certainly not always) with landscapers, irrigation companies and general electricians who purchase their products from home depot or a general retailer that sells only 12v fixed voltage transformers. All transformers should also be breaker or fuse protected. Breaker protected is typically preferred.
I’ve heard about different wiring techniques. Can you explain the difference between T-Run wiring vs. daisy chain wiring vs. hub system wiring?
This is an easy question for a knowledgeable contractor. Most of your wiring should be done in a T-Run or Hub System configuration for Halogen Systems, with daisy chain being used very infrequently since voltage fluctuations as small as .5-1v can cause considerable variance in light output and color temperature. For LED systems, it depends on the driver’s input voltage tolerance (all quality LED drivers have voltage regulators allowing a wide range of input voltages while still producing equal light output). Daisy chain wiring can be used more often with LED because the light source is much more tolerant to a wide range of input voltages
